For the past 25 years, the Himgrip NT wearing course has been used all over the world to provide a wear-resistant anti-skid lining. This finish can be applied to any type of substrate (steel, concrete, wood and plastic). Application possibilities of the Himgrip epoxy wearing course include: bridge decks<\/a>, RoRo link spans, parking decks<\/a>, ramps or walking and cycling paths.<\/p>\n

How is an epoxy wearing course applied?<\/h2>\n

The application of an epoxy wearing course requires specific knowledge of the substrate and the system to be used. In order to obtain optimum adhesion, cleaning of the substrate also requires the necessary attention. The application of an epoxy wearing layer takes place roughly through 4 steps:<\/p>\n

  1. Before the epoxy wearing course can be applied, a pre-treatment of the substrate is essential<\/strong> to achieve a sound, clean and dry substrate.<\/li>\n
  2. A primer is applied<\/strong> (if necessary). Each surface requires a different type of primer to create bonding to the substrate.<\/li>\n
  3. The epoxy slurry<\/strong> (Himgrip NT) is poured on the prepared surface and spread evenly with a steel trowel or squeegee.<\/li>\n
  4. Finally, the slurry is scattered to saturation with a suitable hard wearing aggregate<\/strong> in the desired grain size and colour. Most colours used are: black, gray and red. After curing the excess of the aggregate must be removed.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
