When the floor in your hospitality business needs to be renewed, in many cases it is sufficient to apply one or two layers of a floor coatings. In this article you can discover which floor coatings are most suitable for use in professional kitchen, restaurant and hospitality companies.<\/p>\n<h2>Re-coat an existing self-levelling floor<\/h2>\n<p>If there is an existing floor that you want to provide with a new finish, HIM FC240 is the ideal choice. This coating is available in a <strong>transparent<\/strong> mat and satin version and in a semi-mat <strong>colored<\/strong> version. Below you will find the application process of HIM FC240.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Application process HIM FC240<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Pre-treatment of substrate<\/strong>. The underlying system must be thoroughly clean, dry and free of grease before application. If the system is a self-levelling and not older than 2 days, pre-treatment is not necessary. If the floor is older you will get the best result by lightly sanding the floor beforehand.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Temperature during application<\/strong>. Apply the coating only at a temperature between 10\u00b0C and 35\u00b0C. The substrate temperature must be higher than the dew point temperature plus 3\u00b0C.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Application<\/strong>. Use a brush, roller or spray equipment for application and apply an even layer thickness. Apply crosswise for the best result.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Drying process<\/strong>. At optimal environmental conditions, the coating is dust-dry after 60 minutes, walkable after 16 hours and completely cured after 7 days. A second layer can be applied after 16 hours.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Coating a concrete floor<\/h2>\n<p>For a more industrial <em>look and feel<\/em> you can also apply the above coatings directly to the concrete. For a version in color we recommend HIM FC130. Below is the application process of HIM FC130:<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Application process FC130<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Pre-treatment of substrate<\/strong>. The underlying system must be thoroughly clean, dry and free of grease before application. If the substrate is concrete, a coherent substrate is essential. HIM FC130 is a relatively thin coating. The surface must therefore be very flat and smooth. If not, irregularities in the floor will remain visible.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Temperature during application<\/strong>. Apply the coating only at a temperature between 10\u00b0C and 35\u00b0C. The substrate temperature must be higher than the dew point temperature plus 3\u00b0C.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Application<\/strong>. Use a brush or roller for application and apply a uniform layer thickness.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Drying process<\/strong>. Ensure adequate ventilation. With optimum ambient conditions, the coating is dust-dry after 3 to 4 hours, walkable after 24 hours and completely cured after 7 days.
