If there are irregularities or air pockets in your concrete floor, repairing is essential for good adhesion and obtaining the best finish. In this article we explain why.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Optimal preservation of the concrete floor<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Concrete repair agents are ideal for remedying unevenness on concrete floors. These (slight) damages often occur as a result of chemical attacks and\/or loads. In general, concrete products and constructions can cope well with this. If this gets worse it can lead to eventual concrete rot (noticeable when the reinforcement is exposed and you see that the edges are crumbling). As long as this is not yet the case, you can remedy irregularities with epoxy mortar.<\/p>\n<p>With the right floor finish you can then finish the floor in such a way that many causes of concrete rot, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Effect of frost and thawing salts (in case of outdoor use);<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Reinforcement corrosion by chlorides or carbonation<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Acid or sulfate attack<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>have no chance.<\/p>\n<h2>Concrete repair agent also for new concrete floors<\/h2>\n<p>Concrete floors do not necessarily have to be used or worn extensively to show unevenness. Small holes and cracks are visible on newly poured floors.<\/p>\n<p>Minor irregularities are often not visible when you install a self-leveling floor of 1 to 2 mm due to the layer thickness and the self-leveling effect of the system upon application. However, if you only want to coat the concrete floor in this situation, this is strongly discouraged without prior repair. Coatings, which are usually applied with a roller, are many times thinner and not self-leveling. This means that minor deviations remain visible even after coating. Not pleasing to the eye and also not practical to use, increasing the risk of wear in these areas.<\/p>\n<h2>Better adhesion on leveled surfaces<\/h2>\n<p>For the best adhesion of the coating or self-leveling floor, it is advisable to apply a scraping layer on top of the concrete repair agent. This provides a <strong>liquid-tight<\/strong>, <strong>leveled substrate<\/strong>, doing justice to the floor system.
