This is why.<\/p>\n<h2>Durable as a requirement<\/h2>\n<p>Concrete floors when untreated are not a good solution for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.him.nl\/en\/projecten\/workshop-floor\/\">workshop floor<\/a>. These kind of floors are porous, hard to clean and are a source of dust. For safety reasons whenever lubricants, chemicals, fuel and oils are used it is necessary that the floor is liquid tight. In case of spillage and leakage it is easy to clean up. Another requirement is being able to cope with the heavy strain from vehicles and heavy equipment.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-fluid w-100 aligncenter wp-image-2058 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.him.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/werkplaats.jpg\" alt=\"werkplaats vloer\" width=\"1800\" height=\"1471\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.him.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/werkplaats.jpg 1800w, https:\/\/www.him.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/werkplaats-300x245.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.him.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/werkplaats-768x628.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.him.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/werkplaats-1024x837.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.him.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/werkplaats-341x278.jpg 341w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1800px) 100vw, 1800px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Three layer system for workshops floors<\/h2>\n<p>Depending on the desired properties of the floor here is an example of a three layer flooring system. It is a durable floor consisting of a primer, scrap layer and finishcoat based on midified epoxy binders. Application of this system is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cleaning and treating the concrete surface. Free of debris, dry and degreased. If the substrate is rough\/bumps and holes treat with coving mastic, as a concrete repair\/concrete filler.<\/li>\n<li>Prime with the <strong>FC130<\/strong> waterborne two-pack epoxy. This primer will seal of the concrete preventing absorptive action from the concrete, giving a perfect surface for the next layers.<\/li>\n<li>The following day the scrap layer <strong>HIM SL1000<\/strong> can be applied with a squeegee and trowel. This coloured and fast recoat scrap layer is like the <strong>FC130<\/strong> is solvent-free, and resistant against a lot of chemicals. These include but are not limited to, petrol and gasoline, mineral oils and grease, industrial cleaners, diluted mineral acids and bases.<\/li>\n<li>After 16 hours of hardening a final layer of <strong>HIM FC450NP<\/strong> is applied. This finish coat is near perfect for walking traffic, car traffic in garages and workshops. Not only for its aesthetics looks, but also for its functionality. This layer can be provided with a non-slip addition in the form of granulate, to give a desired skidding resistance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Safe and strong<\/h2>\n<p>As a result of the above mentioned effort \/ hard work there will be a floor that is resilient to heaver wear and tear from vehicles and machinery.
