Need to coat your hospitality floor? When the floor in your hospitality business needs to be renewed, in many cases it is sufficient to apply one or two layers of a floor coatings. In this article you can discover which floor coatings are most suitable for use in professional kitchen, restaurant and hospitality companies.
Re-coat an existing self-levelling floor
If there is an existing floor that you want to provide with a new finish, HIM FC240 is the ideal choice. This coating is available in a transparent mat and satin version and in a semi-mat colored version. Below you will find the application process of HIM FC240.
Application process HIM FC240
- Pre-treatment of substrate. The underlying system must be thoroughly clean, dry and free of grease before application. If the system is a self-levelling and not older than 2 days, pre-treatment is not necessary. If the floor is older you will get the best result by lightly sanding the floor beforehand.
- Temperature during application. Apply the coating only at a temperature between 10°C and 35°C. The substrate temperature must be higher than the dew point temperature plus 3°C.
- Application. Use a brush, roller or spray equipment for application and apply an even layer thickness. Apply crosswise for the best result.
- Drying process. At optimal environmental conditions, the coating is dust-dry after 60 minutes, walkable after 16 hours and completely cured after 7 days. A second layer can be applied after 16 hours.
Coating a concrete floor
For a more industrial look and feel you can also apply the above coatings directly to the concrete. For a version in color we recommend HIM FC130. Below is the application process of HIM FC130:
Application process FC130
- Pre-treatment of substrate. The underlying system must be thoroughly clean, dry and free of grease before application. If the substrate is concrete, a coherent substrate is essential. HIM FC130 is a relatively thin coating. The surface must therefore be very flat and smooth. If not, irregularities in the floor will remain visible.
- Temperature during application. Apply the coating only at a temperature between 10°C and 35°C. The substrate temperature must be higher than the dew point temperature plus 3°C.
- Application. Use a brush or roller for application and apply a uniform layer thickness.
- Drying process. Ensure adequate ventilation. With optimum ambient conditions, the coating is dust-dry after 3 to 4 hours, walkable after 24 hours and completely cured after 7 days. A second layer can be applied after 24 hours.
